We experienced a technical issue this morning that impacted client connectivity on our equities markets (TSX, TSXV, and Alpha). We have worked to resolve and markets are now in a pre-open state and preparing to open at 11:10 a.m. EDT.

Trading stopped for the TSX, TSXV, and Alpha markets just after 10 a.m and resumed more than an hour later. The TMX Group, which operates the exchange, said a connection issue affected trading in all stocks with tickers beginning with the letter M through S.
Some traders, however, weren’t happy about the disruption.
“I feel like I’m trading on a third world exchange,” Ninepoint Partners partner and senior portfolio manager Eric Nuttall told Bloomberg. “I have multiple orders for $20 million to $40 million that I cannot execute. It is unacceptable.”
The last time the TSX went down was in February 2020. The outage due to a system capacity issue came amid heavy trading during the early days of the pandemic.
Another outage back in 2018 was blamed on a hardware failure.
